Animations was a lovely celebration of the re-opening of the South Olympic Park after its redevelopment. I was project managing with Serious and working with the park events team.

We were brought in to programme and produce a weekend of music, dance, storytelling, circus and general fun and games to encourage people to explore the south park. Builders were just putting the final touches on James Corner's brilliant landscape design: in situ performance spaces, play areas, curved wooden seating, a climbing wall, undulating lawns, fountains spouting from the ground and beautiful planting - a refreshingly well thought out scheme.

We used the designed spaces for performances and activities - a storytelling yurt, street dancers, circus acrobats, the Alexander Technique, local choirs and bands - and programmed wandering musicians such as the Bollywood Brass Band and a young drumming troupe from the Dhol Academy. Despite a few showers early on the park filled with a rich variety of human life and it blossomed into a vibrant, bustling event with a discovery to be made round every corner.

It was the first time I'd worked on the Olympic Park and it was very satisfying to make our vision for the event a reality.
