I worked with Jazz Services production managing their British Jazz Expo at the International Association for Jazz Education in Toronto.

I was approached late in the day and we had a job to pull together all the necessary organisational elements in time. We were flying out a lot of musicians including Courtney Pine, Norma Winstone, Martin Taylor, Tommy Smith's Youth Jazz Orchestra and Empirical, all of whom were received with admiration and acclaim.

The main venue was a massive soulless conference centre on the edge of the finance district but a lot of the fun action took place informally in small clubs around town - there were some memorable gigs including a cracking Dave O'Higgins set. I love it when a jazz player, whatever style, age, tradition, finds the zone!

It was a knackering but superbly rewarding four days.
