Over the past few years I've worked as an event manager for the EFG London Jazz Festival. Jazz is my home when it comes to music so it's always a pleasure being a part of this extraordinary 10-day event produced by Serious.

Serious have done an incredible job growing the festival over the past few decades into one of the best in the world, reflecting and capturing the breadth and variety of this most biodiverse of musics with originality and imagination.

In 2013 I was based down at Le Crazy Coqs, a gem of a venue just off Piccadilly Circus. The wonderful John Etheridge entertained and entranced audiences with anecdotes from his days playing with Stephane Grappelli and an astonishing range of material that straddled the last 60 years of guitar history.

After John's residency Chloe Charles played a few nights. Chloe has a voice from another universe - it can flutter and soar and hover and glide - and her songs are so enrapturing and original they just penetrate and becalm the heart.
